I'm not exactly new to yoga, but I've never practiced on a regular basis - just taken classes every once in awhile. I LOVE how it makes me feel, though.
Does anyone have a quick, 10-15 minute relaxing flow they do before bed? I'm a runner, so stretching the lower half of my body is always important, but I'm mostly just looking for something that will help put the final "finish" on my day.
Thanks!
ML

Re: Help for "newbie"
Mon, November 27, 2006 - 11:10 AMIf I am super jittery before bed, I usually try to center myself, but I go through every little muscle on the body, starting on the big toe and up, and try to consiously relax it. Kind of like Uma Thurman in Kill Bill: "Move your big toe." Except mine is, "Relax the muscle in your big toe."
It sounds kind of silly, but I've noticed that I carry tension in some weird places. It definitely helps to relax my muscles, making it easier to fall asleep. -

Mon, November 27, 2006 - 11:53 AMI know what you're talking about. My (now on a long baby break) yoga instructor used to take us through that at the end of each class. It is a great way to relax. Thanks for the tip - I'll have to start incorporating that into my end of day routine.

Re: Help for "newbie"
Thu, May 3, 2007 - 6:07 AMWhat I may suggest is that once all your physical exercices (hatha, pranayama, etc...) are done is to move on to another 'realm'.
ex.: meditating suppine, introspecting one's day, and preparing for dreamwork
(which to me involves calling a for angelic protection before going off to sleep).
All the best,
Lovingly,
Mark.
