I used to do set yoga routines, and then I just started not planning anything except for setting aside time in the morning to do yoga, and then I just do whatever feels right, even if it's not an official pose that I was taught. I find this to be much more satisfying, fun, and makes me feel more communicative with my body.

Re: free form yoga
Thu, September 28, 2006 - 11:11 AMI generally go this route, following whatever my body tells me is right to do.
I just avoid forward bends if I'm feeling blue, and I am always sure to balance out certain poses, like coupling back bends and other poses to take the stress off the back, or to counter those bends. -

Re: free form yoga
Sun, November 12, 2006 - 10:08 PMhey y'all...
it was my understanding that forward bends are GREAT for the blues!
all inversions...the flood of oxygen and blood to the brain, turning your perspective upside down....
ANYWAYS
yeah, i've been doing lots of free form yoga lately too, but i'm also getting tangled up in that, in what i should do for a kriya and the preciseness of the kriya, respecting tradition, versus doing what my little human body wants right now.
you know?
do you guys stumble on that at all? thoughts?
